This video’s really brings it all back. I am so affected by these things. I stay glued to the TV.
I think my first realization of how the government works was during the last huge earthquake we had in L.A./ Northridge Earthquatke-1994. It was the biggest I had experienced in over 30 years of living in the city. I had been through the Sylmar quake in 1971, which was defined to be a 7pt quake. (I lived in Sylmar) This one was equivalent and completely shut down the entire city of L.A. for a couple of weeks.
When the news came on that day they reported the Northridge quake as at least a 7pt quake. Within a day or two, they changed that and said it was barely a ‘5pt’ quake. People were really upset. There’s no way a 5pt quake could do that level of devastation. You live here any length of time- you know the difference.
We didn’t understand at first. Then we learned that the government has a policy about earthquakes: If a quake is over 5 points, victims are not required to pay State or Federal Income tax for that year. So our quake couldn’t be over 5pts! They couldn’t allow that to happen. (California pays more in taxes than any other state. )

I am not surprised by this! FEMA has been a joke and the government is no longer ours, but belongs to big corporations and the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about allowing to gain power.
I wonder if anyone did an expose' on the Northridge quake?
